The casement windows are run from side to side rather than up and down like most of the windows. Because of this, when you decide to install a window air conditioner, you must install one vertically to fit within this window. The process for installing a vertical air conditioner is more laborious than a standard air conditioner window because you must install brackets that can withstand the weight of the equipment.

Instructions

1. Fixed support bracket supplied to the platform with the hex nut and adjusting bolt with a wrench. In the work platform you will see several mounting holes located in row. Select a hole that allows the end of the support platform as far away from the window to position 3/16 inch (4.7 mm) below the part of the window nearest to the platform.
2. Open the sliding window as much as possible, and place the center of the opening. Place the platform on the center of the window opening, and the rest in the window track. With a bit of 9/16 inch (1.4 mm), make pilot holes through each of the mounting holes in the platform. Put aside the platform.
3. Remove the back of the head gasket, and put the board in the top of the window track. This keeps moisture out.
4. Place the platform in place on the window, and secure it with screws and a screwdriver. Make sure the platform is level from side to side with a bubble level before placing the screws.
5. Measure the height of the window opening, and then subtract the height of the air conditioner. Cut the plastic window panel with that measured using a hand saw. Use a file to remove any burrs remaining cut.
6. Slide the plastic panel under the panel and then use a screwdriver and the supplied screws to attach the frame to the top panel of the air conditioner.
7. Using a knife, cuts the side seals with the same channel length. Remove the backing and place the seals on the sides of the air conditioner. Excess wound gasket around the bottom edge of the air conditioner.
8. Remove the front panel of the air conditioner. This process may vary slightly depending on the brand that you have acquired.
9. Lift the air conditioner to the window and mounting holes centered at the bottom of the air conditioner with the mounting holes of the platform. Ensure the air conditioner to the platform with the supplied screws.
10. Place security support in the rim of the front of the air conditioner, and then fixed security support to the platform with the supplied screws.
11. Replace the cover on the air conditioner.
