The bearings of the engine in clothes dryer require regular maintenance to ensure easy rotation during the drying cycle. You must inspect the bearings every time you observe a squeaking or scraping when the dryer is running. Grease the bearings and replace those that are damaged during each inspection. You can have your dryer maintained by a professional appliance repairman or you can inspect and grease the bearings yourself to save time and money.
Instructions
- The dryer away from the wall and unplug the power cord from the wall outlet. Remove the top panel of the dryer to access the inside of the dryer cabinet. The process to remove the top panel varies depending on the specific dryer. Check your own dryer for concrete to remove the top panel of the main unit measures your manual. Some common measures include removing the panel make a lever on the front panel of the dryer cabinet with a flat screwdriver or putty knife. Lift the top panel out of the dryer in the up position to gain access to the inside of the dryer cabinet.
- Remove the screws from the front panel of the dryer with a screwdriver or socket and the appropriate drive. Disconnect the wiring harness from the door switch located on the top of the front panel. The control switch is located on the left side or the right of the dryer cabinet, depending on the brand or model of your dryer. Dryers have a front control panel require disconnect wiring control panel and take off the screws holding the panel in place.
- Lift the front panel so that the bottom clip of the dryer cabinet separate panel, and pull the front panel away from the dryer cabinet. Place the front panel aside.
- Locate shaft assembly motor and pulley on the drum of the dryer. The set is on the left side or the right of the dryer drum, depending on the specific model of your dryer.
- Press the pulley to the drum to relieve tension belt dryer. Remove the belt tensioner pulley and shaft engine.
- Grab the top of the dryer drum and pull it out of the dryer cabinet. Place dryer drum aside.
- Locate shaft bearing motor in the bottom of the dryer cabinet. Inspect the bearing to see if faulty and change it if it is damaged.
- Applied two drops of lubricating oil to the front and rear shaft bearing of the motor. Spin the shaft of the motor with your fingers for the oil to seep into the inside of the bearing. Grab the drum of the dryer and put it back into the dryer cabinet and the rear guide wheels.
- Push the block into the dryer drum and connects the strap around the shaft of the motor and idler pulley. Release the tension pulley to return to the dryer belt.
- Replace the front panel in the dryer cabinet and screw the screws to hold the panel in place. Connect the wiring harness door switch in the top of the front panel. Replace the control panel if the control panel of your model is in the front of the dryer cabinet. Connect the wiring harness control panel and screw the screws to hold it in place.
- Returns the top panel on the dryer cabinet and press the front corners of the panel to secure it. Plug the power cord from the dryer to the wall outlet and slide the dryer in place against the wall.
